Lawn Technician Advancement Program
Tier 1 – Technician
- Experience: 3 months GLF tenure or > 18 months in lawn care industry
- Pesticide licensing: registered technician (PA) or commercial pesticide operator (NJ) - Obtain necessary NJ Profact Training
- Technician meetings: attend weekly and participate in discussion/feedback
- Understand Green Lawn Fertilizing Safety Policy
- Performance rating in Paylocity is 3.0 or greater and no corrective actions within last 6 months (rolling calendar)
- Receive a score of 82% or higher on most recent QA field evaluation before progressing to Tier 2
Tier 2 – Certified Technician ($1.00)
- Experience: Minimum 6 months application experience
- Pesticide Licensing: Core and 2 Categories dependent on your position
- Technician meetings: attend weekly and participate in discussion/feedback.
- Demonstrate a positive safety record: Azuga Driving Score >90% in last 6 months. No safety incidents as result of negligence and zero preventable accidents in last 12 months (rolling calendar).
- Performance rating in Paylocity is 3.0 or greater and no corrective actions within last 6 months (rolling calendar)
- CPR Certified
- 10-hour OSHA Training (completed last)
Tier 3 – Senior Technician ($1.50)
- Experience: Minimum 12 months application experience
- Pesticide Licensing: Obtain all other service line categories within operating state
- Technician meetings: attend weekly and present minimum 5 agronomic/safety topics
- Train/mentor a new technician
- Demonstrate Positive Safety Record: Azuga Driver Score > 90% in last 6 months. No safety incidents as result of negligence and zero preventable accidents in last 12 months (rolling calendar).
- Performance rating in Paylocity is 3.0 or greater and no corrective actions within last 6 months (rolling calendar)
- Educational development and training dependent on learning path:
Lawn learning requirements:

- NALP Principles of Turfgrass Management Certificate
- Attend 1 industry agronomic seminar through Extension Office, LCAP or NJTA
- Attend 1 Penn State/Rutgers Turf Field Day
- CEUSchool.org accumulate 4 credits toward primary category license

- Rutgers Course: Landscape Plants: Identification, Selection & Application
- Rutgers Course: Managing Diseases of Ornamental Landscape
- Rutgers Course:Landscape Integrated Pest Management

- Attend 1 Penn State/Rutgers Turf Field Day
- Attend applicable annual conference ex. GREEN EXPO Atlantic City NJ, LCAP etc.

Tier 4 – Industry Certified Specialist ($2.00)
- Experience: Minimum 24 months application experience.
- Pesticide Licensing: Maintain core/category credits and obtain reciprocal licenses for all service lines in all service states (PA, NJ, DE).
- Technician meetings: attend weekly and present a minimum 5 agronomic/safety topics, annually.
- Certified BAP Leader: Train/mentor new technicians and help with annual preseason training /weekly technician training.
- Demonstrate Positive Safety Record: Azuga Driver Score > 90% in last 6 months. No safety incidents as result of negligence and zero preventable accidents in last 12 months (rolling calendar).
- Performance rating in Paylocity is 3.0 or greater and no corrective actions within last 6 months (rolling calendar)
- Become a Certified Professional Fertilizer Applicator (NJ Only-ProFact)
- Attend NALP Renewal & Remembrance
- Educational development and training dependent on learning path:
